John Hastings creates artwork and music under the moniker “RUMTUM.” As an electronic producer and instrumental enthusiast, RUMTUM has been crafting unique melodic harmonies for more than a decade. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, he spent most of his early days obsessing over mixers, knobs, hip-hop, funk, and sampling hand-made instruments, which quickly turned his curiosities into a passion for creating unique soundscapes based on what inspires him. His most recent release - Mirage, which came out on Bastard Jazz Recordings this past August, was met with critical acclaim from music journalists across the country. His dynamic writing and recording style blends genres to create musical landscapes like no other. RUMTUM is a believer in the close relationship between the balance of human, animal, and plant instincts and the natural geometric patterns that find their way into his art and music while transporting you to a playful oasis.
